Eli Cohen —Spacious Human, Founder
Hi! I’m Eli Cohen, a personal embodiment activist and facilitator who creates experiences where people can explore clothing and appearance norms with intention and feel in their bodies the corresponding freedom that alternate choices can provide.
I aim to demonstrate the transformative powers of dress, providing humans the opportunity to excavate their own hidden emotions and beliefs relating to both masculinity and femininity.
I facilitate experiences that explore what happens when humans transgress the enforcement mechanisms of dress and appearance that serve as ever present, silent, yet powerful reminders to live inside the man or woman box. I also share my personal journey of discovery: of my first really noticing, at the age of 50, the prevalence of arbitrary gender markers, then deciding to transgress some of them. This led me to some funny situations as well as serious discoveries far beyond anything I ever imagined.
Changing the way we men dress is critical to improving our mental, emotional, and physical health. It has the power to transform our relationship to beauty, to our own bodies, and consequently our relationship to desire. It can help us to develop more nourishing social networks and become better listeners. For men and women both, it will improve communication and increase empathy across gender—if enough men adopt a wider range of styles the effects will reverberate profoundly through society at large.
